April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4 April, 1995) started her musical journey in the 7th grade when she started guitar and piano lessons. At the age of seven April started taking piano and guitar lessons. It sparked her interest in writing songs. The year she turned 14 was when she spent a lot of time in making song lyrics and working on her music. After a while, she began traveling with her father and to write songs at home in NY and LA. April began also to incorporate additional topics that were related to of her classmates who struggle with issues such as bullying by peers and teen suicide in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart is a well-known lifestyle blogger and having partnerships with clean beauty brands Ilia, has built her own following. Lockhart was born with no left hand, and it's an aspect of her identity, but it's hardly her whole story. The profile of Lockhart on Instagram does not conceal her handicap, but it doesn't just focus on her disability. The point? that we are all a part of a multitude that our identities are complex and that we're much beyond our physical bodies. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart via video "I don't think that should define me. I don't intend to be an influencer on disability because I have plenty to offer." This doesn't have any effect on my daily life. I conduct everything normally and I've found the best way for me to adapt the things. This is also part of my personality, and that it is something to be talked about. Lockhart who is an inspiration for self-acceptance in general and is currently on a lengthy process to attain this. She admits that she has gone through phases of insecurity with her body, and also feeling uncomfortable wearing some clothing types which exposed her arms. Nowadays, she dresses whatever she wants and posts images of her outfits to social media, she is proud of herself. To her, self-love was always a lengthy trip. But I think that's with everyone with whatever they are struggling with. It's important to surround yourself with those who can identify and feel your heart.
