Laura Linney is an American actor who has become well-known for her performance of vulnerable but strong characters. Her father was a celebrated playwright, but she was raised as a single child by her single-mother and nurse. In the summer and with her father Linney discovered a love for theater. Linney eventually pursued acting first at Brown University then at Juilliard School. Beginning her career at the Broadway soon after graduation, she appeared in film within two years and on television following a year. Since then, she has appeared appearing in a variety of films, TV shows and stage performances. During her career she received several awards, among them the two Golden Globe Awards. Despite her numerous awards, she still loves the theatre, and has appeared on both screen and stage.
